It’s been a busy time for our tribe on Ark lately, with lots of exciting things happening! Our member Wullie connected with a group of other Ark players through a Facebook group, and after some brief discussions was invited to join their cluster server, A Hitchiker’s Guide to Ark. This cluster is primarily focused on breeding and taming, and features accelerated maturity and other stats for dinosaurs. Players are well equipped with various ascendant-level weapons and armour to combat the much higher level wild dinosaurs, and with the ability to travel between maps there are plenty of new creatures to investigate!
Wullie, Henry and George have been slowly building up a large base on the Island map near the red obelisk, although lately we have been starting to establish outposts on some of the other maps such as Ragnarok and Crystal Isles. Each map has a community centre, and at Crystal Isles we each have a personal storage room for the regular giveaway prizes and to trade in-game currency for dinosaurs at the adoption centre. There are frequent events which take place on Valguero, such as racing with sheep (ovis), loot drop parties, and most recently atv demolition derby [INSERT LINK]!
With easy access to Crystal Isles and other maps, Wullie quickly learned how to steal wyvern eggs from their nests, and after a series of daring heists we now have several of the dragonlike creatures of all species and colours! We have a regular breeding programme, with any excess ones being sold to the adoption centre, or traded with other players. Likewise, Henry has been breeding mosasaurs: these huge aquatic dinosaurs are insanely powerful and can chomp their way through any shark that bothers them.
Henry and Wullie also went on a taming expedition to Extinction, in order to find some managarmrs and snow owls. Managarmrs are fur-covered dragonlike creatures that jump rather than fly, and can spit ice to freeze their foes. Whilst he was killed several times by high level direwolves, Henry did manage to trap and tame a male and female, and now has a breeding programme up and running with a lot of success. Some have been born with impressive colour mutations!
George joined this server after Wullie and Henry, but quickly developed a love of reptiles and is rapidly amassing various crocodiles (sarcos and kapros) and snakes (titanboas). He recently discovered basilisks for sale at the adoption centre on Crystal Isles and instantly fell in love; unfortunately these are non-breedable but still look very impressive and will be a formidable mount. At present he is building a reptile house on one of the metal ocean platforms to keep them in.
Henry is also mildly obsessed with jerboas.
